Historical "Siege Chess" is recorded only fragmentarily, as a fortress added to a four-player board — details that overlap heavily with the "Russian Fortress Chess" already in this collection. This version reimagines the idea for two players: a wall running across the middle of the board (between ranks 4 and 5) blocks every piece completely, even a knight's jump, except through a single gate square on the center file. Pieces otherwise move exactly as in ordinary chess.
Simplifications: check and checkmate aren't enforced — capturing the king directly ends the game. Castling and en passant are omitted.
